Acknowledgement
I acknowledge with gratitude to God the contribution
of the various resource persons who contributed to the contents of
this document, including those whose names are not here but who
shared ideas as participants at the various workshops that produced
this document.
I must also acknowledge Christian Health Association of Nigeria
(CHAN) who assisted the church especially in the area of capacity
building.
In particular my appreciation goes to Mission Africa U.K. and other
individuals who funded the development of the church strategic plan
and policy document on HIV/AIDS. I wish to further appreciate
Mission Africa for releasing Miss Linda Murdock to work with the
church on the HIV/AIDS intervention programme; I am highly indebted
to her for her contribution in the development of this document.
I am thankful to the church’s standing committee for approving and
accepting the ownership of the document. I wish to extend my
gratitude to the resource persons, individuals and church groups
whose participation was a blessing. The following persons were
consistently present at stakeholders’ workshops, namely: Sunday
Essein, J.I.Haruna, John Adino, Agnes Salifu, G.U. Nwanko, Drisu
Idaji, Helen J. Abraham, and Mary O. Abrahams. I also wish to
appreciate Miss Dawn Plummer’s work on analyzing the baseline survey
and Mr. Billy Abwa for providing the technical assistance and
expertise in the development of the policy and strategic plan.
Furthermore, I thank key members of our church as well as church
leaders who took time off to be involved in the policy drafting
exercises, as well as the development of the plan. Your
participation is an indication of your willingness to be a major
stake holder in the QIC/UEC National HIV/AIDS programme. In
producing this document, I am indebted to other denominations –
ECWA, Anglican and the Catholic whose documents on HIV/AIDS were of
immense help to us. We work as partners in this area. It is my
sincere prayer that everyone will participate actively in the
implementation of the plan and policy.
All thanks to God from whom all health comes.
