CHANGE FOR CHILDREN

Children are the
hidden face of HIV. Babies born with HIV rarely survive long enough
to impact those around them with their plight. Children whose
parents become infected are left, not just as orphans, but as those
tainted with the stigma of the disease and the memories of caring
for and losing a parent slowly and painfully. In the midst of all
this they are the hope for tomorrow, for if they make the right
choices now they have the chance to rid Nigeria of HIV. Our CHILD
programme provides child appropriate sex education through Sunday
schools and community outreach. Orphan needs are dealt with by the
women’s groups as outlined above. If you are interested in making a
change for children consider the following ways to be involved. |

PRAY |
There are drugs
available to reduce the transfer of HIV from pregnant others to
their babies. Pray that these will become available in ALL areas of
Nigeria, and that appropriate care for children infected with HIV
will be scaled up throughout the country. Pray that God will
protect these little ones, and help STILL WATERS empower them with
skills and resources so that they will make a difference in the
years to come.

TEACH & MENTOR |
Teachers,
parents, Sunday school teachers, aunts, uncles – almost everyone in
Nigeria has access to teaching and mentoring children in their
various capacities. If you would like skills and resources to teach
and guide young children about sex in an appropriate way contact
STILL WATERS for information on our CHILD program. If you are
outside Nigeria looking for opportunities to powerfully impact the

INVOLVING CHURCHES AND
COMMUNITIES

STILL WATERS works through the church infrastructure which is
highly respected and influential in Nigeria. We believe that the
church has the authority, the mandate and the resources to make a
difference in Nigeria. Why not get your church involved. Here is
how. |

PRAY |
Get together with other concerned church members and pray for the issues
surrounding the HIV crisis in Nigeria. STILL WATERS produces a
quarterly newsletter and prayer diary to help you know how best to
pray. Contact us to be added to our mailing list.

RAISE AWARENESS |
Many churches do not know about what is really happening in
their communities or around the world. Contact us for your church
information pack which will give you ideas and resources on how to
inform your church about the crisis and how they can make a
difference. Alternatively; email us for information about how to
arrange for a STILL WATERS speaker to come to your church.

|
GIVE |
There are many imaginative and fun ways to raise money for projects like
STILL WATERS. Why not arrange your own – when you send your church’s
donation make sure you tell us how you raised it and send us photos
if you can.
