Preface
The church, the body of Christ here on earth, serves
as the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. The church today cannot
ignore the fact that her members are dying of AIDS. God has given
responsibility to the church to take care of the flock and also be a
watchman to warn of danger. The statistics in this report reveal
that many QIC/UEC members may already be infected with HIV. And
certainly many QIC/UEC families are affected as they care for and
lose young adult family members to AIDS.
It is our prayer that the QIC/UEC will respond as Jesus Christ would
respond and reach out to care for and give a message of hope to
those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. We pray this will be done
in a non-judgmental way realizing that it is only by God’s grace
that all of us are not infected with HIV. It should also be done
with the love of our Lord who promised to prepare a place for those
who trust Him. Death is not the end of the story for a person living
with AIDS who has received Jesus Christ as his/her Saviour and Lord.
We congratulate the church on this excellent strategic policy and
plan. If it is not just to remain a theory, then the QIC/UEC leaders
and members need to work tirelessly towards the necessary
implementation of the strategic plan. The first step is to plan our
work, but the second is to work the plan. In this way with God’s
help, and with local, national and international assistance, we will
be able to show the love of Christ to those in trouble and save the
lives of our young people and families as we preach and teach a
message of abstinence from sex before marriage and faithfulness to
one’s spouse inside marriage.
“Rescue those being led away to death, hold back those staggering
towards slaughter. If you say, ‘But we knew nothing about this’,
does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards
your life know it? Will he not repay each person according to what
he has done?” (Proverbs 24 v. 11, 12).
As you take up this challenge, be assured of the deepest interest
and prayerful support of Mission Africa (formerly Qua Iboe
Fellowship) family, both in the UK and Ireland, as well as here in
Nigeria.
